Fall 2023 Newsletter

HELLO KINGSVIEW FAMILY!

We are excited to share some updates with you from the past few months at Kingsview! Summer in the Dominican was full of fun, learning, and answered prayers. We have seen God working in so many unique ways, and as always, He has continued to prove faithful to the Kingsview Sponsorship Program. We praise Him for all the ways He has provided this summer, and for the lives He has transformed. And we thank YOU for your continued support of this program.

Blessings,

KSP Dominican Updates

Haitian Project: Ministry Updates

Earlier this year, KSP began partnerships with two Dominican churches who have embraced the mission of supporting Haitian refugees. In the Dominican, Haitian refugees are one of the most impoverished communities, lacking the most basic necessities of life. They’ve had to flee their country because of severe corruption and violence.

This summer, KSP had the opportunity to provide food cards for the Haitian community under Pastor Ishmael’s care. With these food cards, food was purchased and distributed to 27 Haitian families!

Pastor Ishmael has also been supporting Haitian families by running a school for their children through his church. KSP has committed to providing the finances needed to provide the children with lunch at school, two days a week. These children come from severe poverty and have limited access to food at home, so we are honoured to be able to support them in this way. We kindly ask that you keep the Haitian community in your prayers. Pray for their safety and for God’s provision in their lives. Please also pray for the political unrest in their home country.

Training and Theological Resources Project: Bibles

Over the past several months, KSP has been working towards sending Bibles down to the Dominican, for our Pastors to use and distribute for discipleship purposes. We were able to purchase 750 Spanish Bibles, and a generous donation allowed us to purchase another 300 Creole Bibles for the Haitian community. Although sending such a large shipment to the Dominican has its challenges, the Lord’s hand has been on the entire process. We are still waiting on most of the Bible’s to arrive in the Dominican, so please pray for their safe arrival!

School Mission Project:
Leadership Camp

On August 4th-6th, 116 teenagers from our program were able to attend a leadership camp with the support of our generous sponsors! A total of 298 teens attended, and had the opportunity to learn valuable lessons about leadership and the gospel.

There were several teaching sessions throughout the weekend, all revolving around the central theme of "Identity." These teachings were based on 1 Peter 2:9.

Small Groups

For these sessions, the teenagers were put into smaller groups according to their age so that they could learn and grow with their own peers.

The theme of "Identity" allowed the teens to reflect on who they are in Christ, and where their value truly comes from. The image above shows an exercise they participated in, where each teen wrote down a truth about themselves, beginning with the phrase "I am..." Many of the teenagers declared truths such as "I am a child of God," "I am unique," and "I am free."

The message of the gospel was presented all throughout camp, and 26 individuals professed faith in Christ! Hallelujah! 12 of these teens are from our Kingsview family.

Thank you sponsors for sending these teens to leadership camp! Please continue to pray for God's guidance and protection in their lives.

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation,
God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of
Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light."

26 Professions of Faith... Praise God!

School Mission Project: Vacation Bible School

Thank you to all the sponsors and donors that made this possible for our Kingsview children!

On the weekend of August 12th-14th, there was an opportunity for the younger Kingsview kids to attend Vacation Bible School day camp! One of our staff members Sthefania Martinez, along with 22 volunteers, planned and hosted a fun-filled weekend of teaching the gospel. There was an amazing turnout that weekend, with 225 children in attendance on the first day and 200 on the second!

Along with all the fun, the main goal of camp was to share the gospel with these children. Sthefania and the team incorporated the gospel message into each of the camp activities.

During the weekend, God was working in the hearts of many children and parents. 52 children made professions of faith that weekend! Praise God! As these children begin their walk of faith, Sthefania and the team are continuing to mentor them and point them to Christ. We kindly ask that you continue to pray for the hearts of the children of Kingsview; that God would continue to draw them to Himself. Thank you for your continued support in this way!

Orphanage Project: Golf & Give 2023

We had another amazing tournament day on August 10, 2023, at our 11th annual Golf & Give Tournament! Our winning team for this year’s tournament was the Buck Group! Great jobs guys!

Each year our goal is to raise $50,000 for the two orphanages that we support in the Dominican Republic. The funds raised help provide the orphanages with food, clothing, shelter, medicine, and caregiver needs. This year we will also be helping with some special projects. By the end of 2023, we hope to raise an additional $50,000 on top of the golf tournament funds in order to help Betesda Orphanage purchase a van for their children's transportation needs.

We are excited to announce that with your help we were able to raise $50,000 this year! AMAZING. These funds will go a long way to help continue supporting these two orphanages. Thank You!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

This year we also had a raffle for a Toronto Maple Leafs Frame with a signed Austin Matthews jersey, donated by G&A Corporate. Congratulations to our raffle winner, Kirk Mawhinney!

The Buck Group - Scott Whynot, Stephen Moller, James Heslinga, Jon Buck

Despite some rain, we all had lots of fun on tournament day! We want to thank each golfer, sponsor, and volunteer for making it all happen. We look forward to seeing you on the course again next year!
