Spring 2021 Newsletter

Dear Sponsors,

Thank you for your continued dedication and support of the Kingsview Sponsorship Program (KSP). Your 2020 commitment to KSP was integral during the pandemic and continues to have a tremendous impact in making a difference in the lives of many in the Dominican Republic (DR). This past year created unforeseen challenges and obstacles that we were only able to overcome due to your financial contributions, our amazing team on the ground in the DR and the hard work of our Canadian administrative team. We are very thankful to the Lord for His provision. We hope you find this newsletter informative as we seek to give you a comprehensive update of 2020, a year in review.

God Bless,
The KSP Board of Directors

KSP Dominican Updates

COVID-19: Impact on the Dominican Republic

We have experienced an extreme change in recent months. The number of cases has been alarming. Hospitals and health centres did not have the capacity to receive patients and many poor families did not have the resources to pay for the medical test to detect the virus.

The current situation for churches remains a part of the sadness that we live in today. Churches are still not allowing adults over 60 years of age and children to attend services, and adults are only allowed to attend strict one-hour services on Sundays.

We have an educational system that tries to equip teachers with strategies so that they can work adequately in a virtual way. Unfortunately approximately half of the teachers in this country do not know how to handle a computer or cell phone correctly, making it difficult when facing serious challenges.

We have been checking in with all our sponsorships to make sure that everyone is healthy. To date, we have not had any of our sponsorships seriously affect by
 COVID-19.

" ...we have not lost our joy, we look to Jesus for our hope..."

We continue to pray for our sponsorships, that they will continue in good health and that God will spare them from this virus.

What is definitely true is that we have not lost our joy, we look to Jesus for our hope, trusting Him to take us through this storm, our faith sustains us, as God is greater than any storm. May He alone be glorified and may He bless each of you for continuing to help the Dominican people.

Orphanage Project: Orphanage Update

Jaibon Orphanage Update:
For most of us, 2020 will be remembered as a year that forced many life alterations on us and sadly the Jaibon Boys Orphanage is without exception. At the end of last year, the Dominican Republic Government closed this privately held orphanage due to family ownership in-fighting which lead to an extremely poor environment for the boys.

Were the boys relocated successfully?
Thankfully, the boys were sent to other orphanages located in La Romana, DR or if deemed a safe environment, they were placed with extended family.

Congratulations: KSP 2020 Graduates

On August 4th-6th, 116 teenagers from our program were able to attend a leadership camp with the support of our generous sponsors! A total of 298 teens attended, and had the opportunity to learn valuable lessons about leadership and the gospel.

There were several teaching sessions throughout the weekend, all revolving around the central theme of "Identity." These teachings were based on 1 Peter 2:9.

Congratulations graduates on your accomplishments!
We celebrate your success with you! God's blessing on your future!

On behalf of the KSP Board of Directors, we THANK YOU for your faithfulness in the sponsoring of your university student. It is our prayer that their university degree will now position them to support not only themselves but their families for a lifetime. May God bless you for your Kingdom investment.

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation,
God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of
Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light."

KSP Canadian Update

In Loving Memory of Lowell Brown

It is with saddened hearts that we share with you that Lowell Brown was called home to be with the Lord on May 18th, 2020. Lowell had such a genuine love for people that flowed into every aspect of his life. He devoted his time to serving others, especially those in need, regardless of the circumstance. His kindness, generosity and faithful service of the Lord impacted so many; countless children, widows, orphans, families and friends. He, along with his faithful wife Lois, will forever be honored as the founders of KSP. While we miss him dearly we celebrate his freedom in Christ.

Golf & Give Tournament 2020: Fundraiser Update

Thank you to all of the 2020 Golf & Give participants who made this event so incredibly successful! Despite the hurdles created by Covid-19 we had a great turnout of 15 teams and enjoyed a beautiful summer day. We were thankful to receive several compliments from both the golfers and the management staff at Braestone on how well the event was run; a great time was had by all!! Last year, KSP had a tournament fundraising target of $50,000.00. Our goal was to raise this money and allocate it towards the basic needs of orphans in the DR.
